Investor's Business Daily - 1 Buyout news helped lift stocks, sending the S&P 500, NYSE composite and Dow up 0.6%. The Nasdaq rose 0.5%. But volume eased across the board. Metals rocked on Gerdau Ameristeel's Chaparral buy and talk of a looming deal for Alcan. As subprime fears receded, the 10-year Treasury yield rose 6 basis points to 5.09%.
